So much damage..
Below are just a few of the stones that have been damaged over the years.
The first thing that needs to happen:
We need to clean all of the stones so we can read them. (the next stone cleaning is July 16, you can sign up in the events section!)
Next: we need to create a cemetery map so we can see what stones are in the correct places and which are not. Then move them to the right spot.
After that: evaluation. We will make a list to prioritize which stones to repair first. Typically you would start with the leaning ones, so they won't fall over.

Repair Supplies
In addition to the cleaning supplies, you will need tools to repair stones. Here's a list of the items needed to help repair broken, flat, or damaged stones.

Shovels
For digging out around
stones and filling holes
with stone dust
Wood Blocks
4x4 or various sizes from 6"
to 2". used with the hammer
to tamp down the stone dust
Pruning Shears
To get rid of any stray branches, roots, or long grass that's in
the way
Brick Hammer
A brick hammer can help get stones out when you're digging in rocky soil
Wheelbarrows
For transporting stone dust, dirt that has been dug up, and helping to move stones
Levels
Used to level the stone dust before replacing the stone, then to ensure the stone is level
Pencil Point Digging Bar
To help with leverage in
lifting and moving large
stones
Sledge Hammer - 2-3 lbs
Used in conjunction with boards to tamp the stone dust
Stone Dust
For filling in holes and creating a base when replacing stones.
Tarps
Or heavy duty compactor size garbage bags for "holding" dirt/grass temporarily
Tamper
It's very important to ensure
the space is flat BEFORE replacing a stone
Battery Powered Sawzall
The Sawzall is used to cut large roots that are in the way.
